Jan 02, 2025
The first baby born in 2025 at the William Newton Family Birthing Center in Winfield, Kansas joined a festive family. Armani Mateo Amezcua was delivered at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1 to parents Daiten Amezcua and Cindy Martinez of Arkansas City, Kansas. Mom Cindy was also born on New Year’s Day in El Salvador. Dad Daiten was born on Christmas Day also at William Newton Hospital.
Baby boy Amezcua, who arrived just a couple of days ahead of his due date, weighed five pounds 15.2 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. He was delivered by K. Daniel Miller, DO, of Sunflower OB/GYN.
Of her birthing experience, Cindy joyfully said, “It’s been a little crazy but it’s a great way to start the new year.” She said everyone on the team at the William Newton Family Birthing Center “took great care of me. It’s been amazing.”
The William Newton Family Birthing Center is equipped with seven private rooms and two birthing suites. In 2024, William Newton Hospital welcomed 228 newborns to its nursery.
