William Newton Hospital is excited to announce updates to its network of rural health clinics. These highly skilled healthcare providers, Hope Guerrero, APRN, and Melanie Hartley, APRN, will enhance access to quality healthcare in south-central Kansas.
“We are thrilled to welcome Hope to the Winfield team and continue to work with Melanie to provide care to the Sedan community,” said William Newton Hospital CEO Brian Barta, CPA. “Their expertise and commitment will make a real difference for our patients.”
Hope Guerrero, APRN
Hope Guerrero, a board-certified family nurse practitioner, joined the William Newton Hillside Family Medicine team in November, as well as the William Newton Fast Track care team within the hospital’s emergency department.
Guererro is a Kansas transplant with a background in emergency trauma as a nurse in Bakersfield, California. Guerrero’s 15 years of experience also includes pediatric care, credentialed school nurse, ER charge nurse, trauma coordinator, and house supervisor. Most recently, she was part of the ER and Cypress Cardiology teams at Kansas Medical Center in Andover.
She holds a Master of Science Degree from the United States University in San Diego. Guerrero is married with three children and two granddaughters. She enjoys traveling, reading, and attending sporting events.
Guerrero’s expertise will benefit patients of all ages at the Hillside clinic and the William Newton Fast Track.
Melanie Hartley, APRN
Melanie Hartley, a familiar face at William Newton Hospital, transitioned to a family nurse practitioner role in June 2023 at William Newton Hillside Family Medicine and Dexter Community Rural Health Clinic. Hartley had started at the hospital as an aide while in nursing school at Southwestern College. She’s worked at St. Francis, Angels Home Health, and The Little Clinic, but in her time at William Newton Hospital has held roles including ICU RN, med/surg supervisor, and house supervisor.
Hartley is now providing care at the Tallgrass Rural Health Clinic in Sedan and continues to see patients part-time in Dexter. Hartley’s extensive experience in various nursing roles makes her a valuable asset to the team.
She is married to retired paramedic Kevin Hartley. They met while both working at WNH in 1994. The couple has two children. Melanie enjoys music of all genres, doing stained glass, playing piano, and tending to her goats, ducks, chickens, dogs, and other farm animals. She also enjoys taking cruises and spending time with family.
Through its network of rural health clinics, William Newton Hospital is dedicated to providing quality healthcare to the residents of Cowley, Chautauqua, and Elk counties. By continuing to serve the unique healthcare needs of rural communities, the hospital aims to enhance the overall health and well-being of the south-central Kansas region.
